[Horizontal Design] Jiang House

Portfolio introduction

desciption

Mr. Jiang, the homeowner, is a busy professional who looks forward to coming home and having a private space where he can relax and unwind without being disturbed by neighbors or elevator noises. Therefore, when it came to the door project, Mr. Jiang emphasized functionality as the main focus, with the exterior design being secondary. After careful recommendation from a Blue Whale sales representative, he chose a Blue Whale double-sealed soundproof door with a horizontal design made of cast aluminum, capable of reducing noise by 45 decibels. This door not only provides sound insulation but also offers features such as fire resistance and anti-riot capabilities.

The special aspect of this project lies in the positioning of the two-stage transaction latch. Typically, Blue Whale places the transaction latch below the handle. However, due to the presence of young children at home, the latch was adjusted to a height accessible for adults, in order to prevent accidental locking of the door.

The two-stage transaction latch replaces the traditional peephole, preserving the soundproof and fire-resistant structure of the door while maintaining an aesthetic and user-friendly design. When the first stage of the latch is engaged, the door opens slightly from the inside, allowing a view of the visitor. When both stages of the latch are engaged, the door becomes securely locked, preventing external access even with a key. This feature ensures the safety of the household by allowing the door to be locked before everyone goes to sleep.
